What does EFPSA stand for?  go up

EFPSA means - European Federation of Psychology Students' Associations - and it is a wonderful organisation that unites national psychology students' associations into one cooperative Europe-wide network. EFPSA encourages the mobility of European psychology students as well as it promotes professional collaboration in the context of international communication. One way to facilitate this interaction - is to organise helpful services for its members. As Travel Network is one of EFPSA services, designed to enhance this communication network - it is only accessible to those who are European psychology students! So - look at yourself! Are you a psychology student from Europe? Then TN is for you! And you can reward yourself with more information about EFPSA at www.efpsa.org

What happens after I have submitted the membership form?  go up

After filling the form, a notification, containing the account confirmation link, will be sent to your personal e-mail, so you will be able to activate the account. This is done so to rule out possible misspellings in the contact-email, for it is crucially important that one is indeed reachable through TN-homepage. After you have confirmed your account, it will become visible for all the other TN-members and you can instantly start enjoying the endless possibilities of Travel Network!

What will the contact-button do?  go up

If you have serious plans to use Travel Network and find a suitable host for your adventurous journey, you should definitely establish the very first contact through TN web-page. You will find the "contact" button next to each host profile and by clicking on that, you will get an opportunity to write the first message to your potential host. The host will receive it as regular letter from your personal e-mail address and you can continue your travel-networking arrangements through regular Internet channels. This type of intermediated establishment of contact is crucial for feedback and statistics to keep account on how often Travel Network Service is used.

What happens when my account expires?  go up

When your Travel Network account expires, your data will go offline (is no more visible in the official database) and you will receive a notice on your personal e-mail, including a link that enables you to automatically renew your account for one year. Regardless of the fact, that you do not have an obligation to prolong your account, all your personal information will be preserved for two years, in case you feel like making your membership active again. Nevertheless, you can always access your profile through TN-page and change the expiration date manually, just when it suits you!

What happens if I don't renew my account after it expires?  go up

If you will not respond to the expiry notification, your data will remain offline (it is not visible in the TN-database) for two years. During that time, you can always reactivate your account. If you choose not to do it, you will receive the final notification e-mail two years after the expiration, to inform you that your personal information will be permanently deleted from the database. Lucky for you, there is a link in the message - that again allows you to activate your account for a period of one year. Don't forget, that you can always edit your profile!

What is a temporary alert?  go up

A temporary alert is a polite message to all your potential friends you are absolutely dying to host but at some concrete moment of time, really-really just cannot! For example, your grandma comes to visit and occupies your apartment for ten days or you yourself have gone on a 3-week Travel Network pilgrimage. Then you can each time leave this nice little note, saying "I will not be home from this time until that, but you can always camp in my yard", or something else like that. You can change your temporary alert whenever necessary, at the same place where you can edit your personal data.

Why is it necessary to know in which year of study I currently am?  go up

After suffering a complete feedback-famine during the era of "the-previous-travel-network-database-system", the current TN-team has been very wicked to satisfy themselves with all sorts of possibilities towards obtaining statistical information. By asking your current year of studies, we actually rate our quality of promotion. Is it only the toughest students close to graduation, who dear to fight their way to this service? Or - do the freshmen receive the info just as splendidly? The year of your studies will not be reflected in your visible profile, unless you want to emphasize it on some open field.

What is the visit-book for?  go up

The visit-book is a really spunky way to make Travel Network homepage more interactive, share some post-visit feedback and make your host happy and proud. One should fill in the TN visit-book after each stay he or she has organized through Travel Network, no matter if you travel locally, visit the same person for the "umpteenth" time, know your host already for a long period of friendship or you have just met her for the first time. It doesn't matter if you wish to write long poems to glorify your stay, detailed humoresques or just find time for a few words. It is fun reading material for all the TN-members and a wonderful way to see how many initiated contacts really find their path into actual hosting situations. But please be aware that per one visit there cannot be more than one visit-book entry! If you visit the same person again, only then you can write the second visit-book "hymn". If there is something, you forgot to add to the visit-book in your first stream of ecstatic memories, feel free to go back and change the content of your entry by using the 'edit'-function. We ask you this because we count hosting situations and recognize experienced travel-networkers only based on visit-book entry statistics.

Who are the participating countries?  go up

The participating countries are EFPSA member and observer countries that have at least one travel-anxious psychology student in their national organization, who has considered Travel Network interesting and useful enough to join the database. This means - the potential members are psychology students from basically, all the European countries and the actual list of countries where you can utilize TN at this instant, is growing rapidly. After creating yourself an account, you will see the full list of all the countries presented in Travel Network.

How much am I supposed to socialize with my host, are there any expectations?  go up

You are a grown person and you will socialize as much as you wish to. As two adults you probably know best how to work out your own personal means of interaction - there are no rules, no expectations, just go with the flow! Of course hosting TN-guests doesn't mean that you would have to drop your personal life for the time of their stay! Travel Network adventurers are expected to be very independent, so - indeed you don't have to become their new mother or ultimate best friend during this stay. (Hey, unless you mutually wish that!)

What am I expected to provide for free?  go up

Normally everything (water, electricity, food) is provided by the host - for free. But you can always specify in your form, which things you are not able to offer without some pay. It is completely normal and accepted that for example the student fridge is often empty or you will not be able to pay the bill for long-distance calls, and so on, based on your possibilities. The only thing that, basically, has to be free, is the accommodation, for it is the essential of this service. But just look out - in case you list too many things that you cash extra for, you might end up making too little new friends!

Where are the traveling tips?  go up

Well, it is not the aim of EFPSA Travel Network to become a tourist information guide, full of boring formal information on places to visit, that you can find on any popular tourist site in the web. We try our best to put up and complement the links to those sites, but on informal traveling tips - good places to visit and fine means of getting by - we rely entirely on your help! Please share your experience, don't hold it to yourself - write it all down to the visit-book, give people good ideas!

Who are the people behind Travel Network?  go up

This wonderful new web environment has been engineered and brought to you by Markus Hausammann, a talented Swiss "EFPSA-god", supported by the inspirational flows of ideas of many TN-passionate colleagues. The visual presentation is produced in cooperation with groovy Estonian flash-artist Eva Sepping. Everything that goes on in the Travel Network Service is and will be coordinated and steered by the sexiest team throughout EFPSA history, led and 'dragged' with complete devotion and love by Triin Ulla (Estonia) and the Nikola Babic (Croatia).

Are there some basic guidelines or rules for using travel network?  go up

Yes, there are. Here you go:

  • We kindly ask you to always contact a person through Travel Network web-page contact-button! Even if it so happens that you already know this person, he is your best friend or you know his e-mail by heart. This is the only means of feedback for TN-team, to find out if and how often Travel Network is really being used.
  • In order to keep Travel Network interactive, please keep all sorts of feedback coming! After visiting a TN-member always make a visit-book entry, spill your guts, tell everybody how interesting or crazy it was! Make your new friend proud, even if you have only two words to say! Please, just note that there can be only one visit-book entry per stay. In case you want to add something, be kind to use the 'edit'-function.
  • Please check your personal data every once in a while to see if there is anything that needs to be changed or perhaps specified!
  • Feel yourself entirely free to use Travel Network on your national level!
  • Improve your traveling conditions by telling all your fantastic psychology student friends about Travel Network!
